Reconciliation and the role of Global Peace Festivals

In pursuance of the United Nations resolution (61/17) to proclaim 2009 as
the International Year of Reconciliation and also responding to the global
crisis, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is inviting to the conference
Reconciliation and the role of Global Peace Festivals
April 8th 2009 starting at 1.00 pm with registration (Conference: 1:30
5:30 pm). In the UN/UNIDO Board Room (4th floor, C-building), VIC, Entrance Gate 1; Wagramer Strasse 5.
Registration is mandatory! Deadline: April 2nd.
Upon showing a personal document (passport) you will be issued a ground pass to enter the UN building for the conference.
(A ground pass is required to enter Vienna International Centre (VIC).

After organizing Global Peace Festivals (GPF) in more than 20 countries all
over the world in 2008, UPF has launched the Global Peace Tour 2009 with
events planned in 190 countries under the overall theme A New Vision for
Peace in the 21st Century. It started at the end of February in Japan
continuing to several countries in Asia and then went to Africa. At the end
of March the tour comes to Europe to include a conference on Forging
Interfaith Intercultural Alliances: Coordinated Action for Peace-building
and Human Rights in the UN in Geneva on April 3rd.
Two main subjects of the Vienna conference will be addressed by national and international experts:
* The International Year of Reconciliation 2009.
* Global Peace a dream of the 21st Century.
Sub-themes of the conference will be:
a) Global Peace Festivals impressions from various countries.
b) Developing a new paradigm or model of leadership rooted in Universal
Principles.
c) Promoting conflict resolution through interfaith cooperation.
d) Establishing a global culture of service centered on the aspirations
of youth.
The list of invited speakers includes UNIDO Director-General Dr. Kandeh K.
Yumkella and the Mongolian Ambassador Dr. Jargalsaikhan Enkhsaikhan, who will report on the impact of the GPF in his nation.
